BYU fan here, I am glad we are in the same conference as West Virginia, a great state and the home for some of my dearest friends.

West Virginia is gonna turn some heads this season

Depends on how heavily the ACC depletes out. A heavily depleted ACC might want West Virginia to join, but a lightly depleted ACC will have enough members so they likely wouldn't be interested in adding any more.

Oklahoma and Texas will be perennial 8-4 teams in the SEC as opposed to being 11-1 or 12-0 in the Big 12.

Pat is the quintessential Mountaineer for sure. -- AND Let's not forget Nick Saban, a proud West Virginia and one of many great coaches who hail from the mountain state, joining the show. I don't really understand the narrative, WVU plays teams that are hours away... that's just what it is. Nothing wrong with that. The schedule has been fair given the circumstances. And btw, UCF come to WV this year...pretty sure UCF, UC and WVU will prob play every year. This was not a great take. Creating something out of nothing.

Although WVU is 75 miles from Pittsburgh, West Virginia University is "kind of" their pro football team. There are THE football program for most WV fans. That is, to a large extent, the reason WVU fans are so passionate.,

BYU fan with WVU ties here. Mad respect for that program. Also, I love that logo. Being out on an island isn’t ideal, but it shouldn’t be forgotten that that WVU opted for the prestige of the Big 12 over the more convenient geography of the AAC when the Big East collapsed. BYU and other schools wanted that spot too, and BYU would be on an island now if it hadn’t been for the PAC 12 collapse. The conference is going to add whoever is best for the league, not an individual school. Maybe that’s a Pitt/Louisville/VT combo. Maybe it’s OSU/WSU or Syracuse that exacerbates the geography challenge. TV execs kind of drive that. Whatever happens, WVU should not see membership as a slight-it’s a privilege. Imagine if WVU had been left to the AAC and just now joined. The perception would be very different.

How come when you talk about wvu all you do is talk about how horrible of a job is all this other stuff yet when you invite anybody else it’s a 10-15 minute glaze fest

A new PAC 8 not only would be less expensive for a network, but it would keep them in existence. This would allow them to watch the ACC and either make a case to jump, or a possibility of picking off a couple of dissatisfied teams from there. Obviously not Clemson or Florida State, and its a reach, but who knows what might happen if one of the networks steps in. I mean, who thought we would be here two years ago?

They have 0 reason to talk… UCF takes 12 hours minimum to travel to a game. Either way, we both need the big 12 to expand east

In my lifetime we have been undefeated twice and played for 2 national championships. 1988, and 1993. Plus was 1 bad game away from playing again in 2008. Are we that forgotten about?? No one remembers orange bowl win against clemson, fiesta bowl win agains oklahoma, sugar bowl win against georgia? All in a 4 year period. Yes i agree, we r not always dominate or even close too blue blood staus. But we r a great program that competes way better than most teams that have so much more in location, resources, etc... Give us some props please.

No pity party for WVU, the school is making money, winning in major sports, recruiting and have nice facilities. Just because WVU is a supposed "outlier" to the big 12 footprint does not mean things are not good. The program is respected. We are in the east and relevant there, especially when winning, national media covers well (DC, New York) , Big 12 just happens to be the conference that we joined when big east fell apart...we knew away games would be difficult...thats just the way it is. WVU can hold its own athletically. AND if you wanna know the difference for the fans the passion, it comes from thought process like you Drake stating "no one cares about WVU" the underdog, outlier university in the conference. lol

ACC does not want WVU. If they did they would be in the conference by now. NB success? Where? One season with an easy schedule, did not beat a team with a winning record and won a bowl game where the best players at UNC did not play. Maybe in WV that is considered success by most look at his record at WVU that said he should have been fired long ago. However, when being mediocre is the goal WV is happy along with some of the fans.

West Virginia would be a much better fit for the ACC. They could play their natural rivals every year and not have to travel as far.

What is wrong with Rutgers vs UCLA? You are neither a Big Ten fan nor alumni. UCLA bball made a name for itself based on Indiana/B1G talent. So dont act like Rutgers or any Big Ten team doesnt seem right going up against USC/UCLA. Big Ten expansion has been organic. We have history with these Pac12 teams and the Rose Bowl

WVU fans are much more compatible with Big XII fans than the old Big East fans.

EA used PFF, have you deep dived the Colorado roster? The transfers they brought in are better than most all Big12 players at many spots. Do the research and then get back with the rest of us wonks. The Big12 does not have that many premier players, so that is why they are there.

This, narrative JT is pushing about fans traveling is his own agenda. I have been a Ute season ticket holder for 25+ years and have traveled to at least 1 premium road game a year (Headed to Stillwater & Orlando this year). Utah fans travel, so JT is just plain clueless when it comes to the core fan base. There were a shiz ton in Baylor last year and even more in the Swamp the year before that.

As a Utah fan, I hate that the ACC is next in the sights as being dismantled. I also see no reason to hate on the Big12 for being opportunistic. I'm looking forward to a great Big 12 football season. The Kansas schools look formidable, WV, Iowa State, Oklahoma State, TCU, Baylor all are quality. I am enamored with the thought of Texas, OU, USC and UCLA struggling in their new conferences.

Big 12 is just trying to survive . SEC AND BziG 10 are ruining college sports all together with the NIL also.
